What is an Alias ID?

  • An Alias ID is a secondary email address linked to a user's primary email account.

  • It can be used to receive emails just like the main email, but it does not have a separate login or mailbox.

 Uses of an Alias ID:

  1. Simplifies communication:

    • Create aliases for departments or roles (e.g., support@, hr@, info@) without creating new accounts.

  2. Protects primary email:

    • You can share an alias publicly while keeping your main email private.

  3. Cost-effective:

    • No need to create multiple accounts for different purposes; aliases are usually free and easier to manage.

  4. Temporary or project-based emails:

    • Set up aliases for events, projects, or short-term needs without permanent changes.

Steps to Set an Alias ID in the Admin Panel:

  1. Log in to the Admin Panel using the Postmaster ID (e.g., postmaster@domainname.com).

  2. Search for the user ID for which you want to set an alias.

  3. Once the user ID appears in the search results, locate the "Mail" option on the right-hand side.

    • Click the drop-down arrow next to "Mail."

    • Under the "Alias ID" section, enter the desired alias.

    • Click Save to apply the changes.
